Kia ora,
My name is Hannah and I live with my husband and our two tamariki in the EBOP. I love a cheeky margarita, good kai moana, shopping, travelling and spending time with whānau and friends. I have been on a mission to connect with my Māoritanga the last 10 years.
i have been a registered midwife for the last five years. I have worked in a secondary unit as a hospital midwife but i have predominantly worked as an LMC midwife during my short career. Due to the nature of my mahi, i am extremely passionate about women’s health and in particular pregnancy and the postpartum. I work under a model that supports continuity of care throughout the antenatal, birth and postpartum period. During that time, I am able to form amazing partnerships with whānau that are built on trust and empowerment. As a Māori midwife, i aim to share the knowledge i have gained around traditional Māori birthing practices and love supporting whānau to implement those practices into their care if they wish to do so.
I love utilising my social media platform on Tiktok and instagram to share evidence based resources around hapūtanga (pregnancy) , whakawhānau (birth) and the postnatal period.
I recognise that not everyone has access or feels comfortable walking in Te ao Māori (Māori world) so I hope sharing the information i have learnt and continue to learn is helpful to those whānau in particular. Seeing Māori and non-Māori embrace our culture and incorporate our traditions is the goal!
Ngā mihi nui ❤️
