Alisha - LMC - Birthing Mama
Alisha, tell us a little bit about your background and experience in the pregnancy, birth, or postpartum field:
My name is Alisha and I am an LMC midwife. As an LMC I look after mama throughout pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period. I have completed 4 years of study and am now in my first year as a new graduate midwife.
A brief introduction to your business, its mission, and the services you offer:
As an LMC I take on a number of clients, generally up to 4 a month and I am their main care provider throughout their pregnancy journey. I see them in clinics for their antenatal appointments and am on call 24/7 for their labour and births. After their births I then visit them at home for the first 4-6 weeks for postpartum visits. During my time as a student, I created an instagram page which was specifically used to provide beneficial up to date pregnancy and birthing information, tips and tricks for mama and whanau who are going through this very special time.
A few sentences about your passion and commitment to supporting expecting and new mamas during their journey:
My passion is to continue to help mama and whānau be fully informed of their choices and experiences during their pregnancy journey. Being able to share the knowledge that I have gained throughout my studies and my day to day experiences is a very special privilege of mine. I believe that knowledge is power, especially during this period. Being able to be a well trusted and safe person for my clients and their families is such a great feeling and I feel incredibly lucky to be able to share my knowledge.
