Edee, tell us a little bit about your background and experience in the pregnancy, birth, postpartum, or motherhood field:

Hi I'm Edee, mama of two little ones, and pre & post-natal exercise specialist. I am passionated about all things pregnancy, birth and motherhood related. Those who know me know I can talk on these topics all day and I pride myself on creating safe spaces for people to share experiences, talk about "taboo" topics and ask questions that they feel uneasy about talking to others about. Holding space for the raw and honest ups and downs of pregnancy, loss, birth, and parenthood is what I am an advocate for. Which comes as no surprise. I am my region's consumer representative for the maternity quality and safety program. 

I myself had had two completely different birth & postpartum experiences. Motherhood has taught me alot but one of the biggest things I have learnt is slowing down and the importance of not just physical health but mental wellbeing. I love connecting mothers together with group and also reminding others how incredible our bodies are and that it just isn't some small skill growing, birth and nourishing a baby. 

A brief introduction to your business, its mission, and the services you offer:

As a pre & post-natal exercise specialist I am passionate about providing safe and effective exercise programmes for pregnant and postnatal people. Education around why we do what we do is also very important for me working with anyone so that it helps them to make informed decisions when they are outside of sessions. My goal is to reduce the fear around exercising during pregnancy and also help you recover better after birth and safely return to exercise postpartum.

  • Feedback for the Nelson/ Tasman Maternity services as I am the consumer rep
  • Coaching about exercising around your menstrual cycle
  • REPs certified Pre & Post-natal exercise workshops through Active Mums NZ

A few sentences about your passion and commitment to supporting expecting and new mamas during their journey:

With so much out in the world that prepares babies to arrive but yet so little support, guidance and education for mothers during pregnancy & postpartum about building a toolbox of skills, knowledge and support networks to support themselves is the key driver for why I love supporting others in this space. I truly believe It takes a whole village of different expertise to hold the mother and parents.
